Jeanne-Claude: unforgettable memories

The Pont Neuf Wrapped by Christo was our first adventure with Christo and Jeanne-Claude in 1985, nearly 25 years ago!

We had just opened the shop in rue Dante, a few yards from the Pont Neuf.

We had met the Christos in New York a few months beforehand had been given permission to publish cards, prints, drawings and photos. The shop was packed for a fortnight, weekends included. All the second-hand booksellers were selling prints and cards that they had bought in the shop in rue Dante.

Volz, Christo’s titular photographer, took the photographs and within 48 hours we had printed cards and prints from these.

And then there was the Reichstag in Berlin, the most symbolic monument of political power. Here too, we went and published cards and prints on the spot.

Finally, the parasols, on either side of the Pacific, in California and Japan, of which we also published photographs.

Jeanne-Claude and Christo passed on to us their enthusiasm and energy. Jeanne- Claude always shared everything with Christo: she was both a wife and a partner to him. She carried the flame within her and knew how to share it.
