Portraits of women

The illustrator and contemporary painter Francine Van Hove paints gentle, sensuous portraits of women in day-to-day poses.

She always paints with a live model and has a particular mastery of transparent skin tones.  Beauty, refinement, sensuality and meditation are the prominent themes of her work.

She is inspired by daily life, painting and literature.

Her masters are La Tour, Ingres, Degas, the painters of the Italian Renaissance and Dutch painting.

She had her first exhibition in 1978 and her art has since received increasing public recognition.

She has had a large number of exhibitions, notably at the ‘Blondel Gallery’ and the International Contemporary Art Fair.

Her works are reproduced as lithographs and are used as covers for books.
