Denis Frémond

Denis Frémond is a mysterious character. It’s therefore difficult to learn much about his career as he believes that “biographies are pointless and usually boring and conventional”.
Denis Frémond’s paintings, with their special, personal atmosphere, are an invitation to reflection and travel.

Biography

Denis Frémond was born in Havre in 1950 and came to painting late after spending time in the theatre, press drawing and comic books.

He is a mysterious painter and we know little about his life. He cultivates this mystery with a touch of humour, as you can see in the “spoof”
interview on his blog.

So it’s difficult to learn much about his career as he believes that “biographies are pointless and usually boring and conventional”, as he says with humour in the same interview.

Denis Frémond likes to paint
large canvases, creating an atmosphere of solitude, meditation and peace, using soft colours that leave us baffled.

A large part of his work is set in
New York. In a very urban atmosphere, he shows us interiors, hotel rooms, skyscrapers and street scenes.

Denis Frémond also paints
landscapes that are reminiscent of his childhood in Southern France.

Denis Frémond’s paintings, with their special,
personal atmosphere, are an invitation to reflection and travel.
