Bruno Morandi

Bruno Morandi was born in Deauville in 1959, the son of a Norman mother and a Tuscan father,. Tuscany, where he spent all his childhood summers, greatly influences his work.  His photos taken all over the world are an invitation to travel, exploration and a sense of openness towards different world cultures.

Biography

Bruno Morandi was 18 years old when he first travelled to NepalHe decided to give up his architectural studies to become a mountain guide.  One expedition followed another and after a series of adventures and encounters, it soon became obvious to him that he should become a photographer.

He became a professional photographer in 1990. Since then, he has worked with leading magazines: National Geographic, Geo, Ulysse, Grand Reportage. His photographs of the Tuscan countryside, the Hijra community in Pakistan and the colours of India and Morocco are amongst his most successful works.

From the dazzling colours of India and Pakistan to the bewitching light of Tuscan countryside, Bruno Morandi travels the world in search of different landscapes and cultures.

Influenced by Henri Cartier-Bresson, David Alan Harvey and Steve McCurry whose humanist approach to photography he shares, Bruno Morandi seeks to capture slices of life and daily actions in all their simplicity and beauty.

A great traveller, during the summer of 2008 he travelled through Mongolia by car.  He tells of his journey in his blog From Paris to Ulan Bator.
